Disney: It Blew Up Good; Blew Up Real Good

Well, Disney is giving new meaning to that old question. The company (and its partners) are recalling 102,000 Disney branded DVD players because the battery packs sold with the players are overheating and exploding when re-charged. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says there have been 17 reports of batteries overheating with three cases of skin and property damage.

The DVD players were sold at Disney theme parks, through catalogues and at electronics stores for between $70 and $130. The feds say consumers should stop using the battery pack (duh) and contact Memcorp (the battery pack supplier) for a replacement.
