Washington, D.C. (July 12, 2006) -- Phillip Swann, president of TVPredictions.com, predicted yesterday on the Fox News Channel that TV networks will soon increase broadcasts of live events to reduce ad-skipping by Digital Video Recorder owners.
Swann, aka 'Swanni,' said DVR owners will be more likely to watch live events, such as sports and news, when they originally air. Consequently, they would be less likely to recorded the show and skip the commercials during the playback.
"You'll see more live sports and news and maybe more drama will be live -- as it once was in the early days of television, in the 1950s," Swanni said while appearing Tuesday on Fox News' Studio B With Shepard Smith. "DVR owners are less likely to record live programs because of their immediacy and they want to see the outcome."
