Toshiba's HD-A2 HD-DVD player is now available for $149 at Amazon.com.
The company's second-generation HD-DVD player has a suggested retail price of $299. Toshiba's HD-DVD format is battling with the Sony-supported Blu-ray format for the new high-def DVD audience. The Toshiba player will display HD DVDs and upconvert standard-def DVDs so they will offer an improved picture.
The HD-A2 HD-DVD player can display high-def video in 1080i.
