Samsung Blu-ray/HD DVD Player: $499

Amazon.com is now selling the Samsung BD-UP5000 Blu-ray/HD DVD player for $499 -- $500 off the suggested list price. The dual-format player will display both HD DVD and Blu-ray discs in 1080p video and it supports new interactive technologies such as BD Java and HDi, allowing for additional features such as director's commentaries and ITV menu.

The dual-format player will be the last one released by Samsung, which announced last week that it will not offer a second-generation dual-format player due to Toshiba deciding to exit the HD DVD business at the end of the month.
