Blu-ray Review: Jumper
THE MOVIE: 4 stars out of 5
Jumper stars Hayden Christopher, aka Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, as David, a young man who is able to transport himself anywhere in the world at a blink of an eye. He is able to build quite a life for himself, using his powers to enter banks undetected and stealing the cash to support a lavish lifestyle with a condo in New York and a flat in London. However, what he doesn’t realize is that there are others with his same powers as well as others who have found about them and are on a crusade with religious fervor to execute each and every one of them. Quite frankly, I did not see this one in the theater and did not know what to expect. However, I found the film to be very entertaining with a very original premise which was well executed. The characters were believable and well cast and well acted, especially the leader of the secret group out to kill the jumpers, played very convincingly by Samuel L. Jackson. The only real quibble that I have with the story line is that they spent a little too much time setting up the obvious sequel. Needless to say I would recommend this film to fans and non fans of sci-fi alike. Recommended.
THE VIDEO: 5 stars out of 5
Jumper is encoded with AVC and is presented in its original aspect ratio of 2:35:1. The picture quality on this disc is reference in every way, one of the best looking titles I have seen on any high def format. Yes, the picture is that good. Detail and clarity is simply outstanding. The details on the walls at the Colosseum in Rome have to be seen to be believed. Any of you out there who have been lucky enough to have taken a tour of the interior of the Colosseum will know exactly what I mean. The image on this disc captures that experience perfectly, at least for this writer. Colors are picture perfect with excellent saturation and spot on flesh tones. Blacks are deep and solid giving the image on the screen great depth. There is nothing at all that I could find to quibble with about the image on this release. It is that good.
THE AUDIO: 5 stars out of 5
The high rez audio here as is the practice at Fox is presented with DTS HD Master Audio and for this writer, is as good as the video. This is a title you can crank up to reference levels and have a totally pleasurable audio experience without the hint of hardness to the sound. The audio is of exceptional fidelity with a smoothness and openness that is a real treat for the ears. Dialogue is clear and beautifully rendered here as is the musical score. Bass is deep, tight and solid and provides a real impact when the characters jump form place to place. Very well done.
IN CONCLUSION
I can without reservation recommend this film both for its original story line and exceptional video and audio presentations.
Note: Jumper will be released on Blu-ray disc on June 10.

Joe, you're usually spot on. However, you really lost me when you called this waste of 90 minutes a 4 out of 5 for content.
Did Fox threaten your family?
Sorry, but I enjoyed the film as did others I screened it for. Just an honest difference of opinion I guess.
