Would You Like a 100-Inch 3-D Laser HDTV?
TVPredictions.com

(September 21, 2009) -- Both the Laser TV and the 3-D TV are still in their infancy in the marketplace. The new technologies likely have years to go before and/or if they reach the masses. But a new start-up company has unveiled a new TV that combines both technologies in one set.

And not only that, the set's display is 100 inches, according to an article by ZDNet.

HDI, the company, which is based in Los Gatos, California, says the set operates at 1080Hz, much faster than current LCD sets. (This would dramatically reduce any motion blur effects on screen.)

But beyond that, the company is short on details, such as cost, launch date or if the company will license the technology to a specific brand. HDI did say the 3-D effect would still require glasses, however.

"With our technology, we hope to raise the bar of what's available now," said Chris Stuart, director of technology at HDI, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "We're trying to give the quality of IMAX in the home."

Mitsubishi, which is now selling a Laser TV billed as 'LaserVue,' has said Laser will revolutionize the high-def industry by offering crisper pictures and more vivid colors. The television, which uses a laser light engine to display images, will consume one-third of the power of a Plasma HDTV.

Mitsubishi's Laser set is also 3-D-capable.
