ABC May Soon Ax 2 Daytime Soaps
By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (April 3, 2011) -- ABC could be preparing to cancel two daytime soap operas, All My Children and One Life to Live, according to TV Guide Magazine.

The magazine notes that the Internet has been buzzing for weeks about the possible cancellation of All My Children. But TV Guide writes that it has "learned" that ABC will likely ax the show 'in the coming days (and) will very likely cancel One Life to Live as well."

The network apparently wants to replace the shows with a less expensive tandem of a talk show and reality show this fall.

"Insiders say (ABC daytime chief Brian) Frons has been extremely cavalier about all this, showing no signs of sorry or regret about a drastic decision that will leave General Hospital as the network's only daytime soap," TV Guide writes.

ABC refused to comment on the report.
