Baseball Historian: Rangers Over
Cards In 5
Special to TVPredictions.com
Washington, D.C. (October 18,
2011) --
The baseball historian who defied all the experts, and
accurately picked the San Francisco Giants to win last year’s
World Series in five games, predicts another five-game blowout
this year. But this time, last year’s loser, the Texas Rangers,
will win!
“Texas can hit harder, and its starting pitchers are good enough
to last until that dominant bullpen comes in,” said Edward Achorn,
author of the acclaimed “Fifty-nine in ’84: Old Hoss Radbourn,
Barehanded Baseball and the Greatest Season a Pitcher Ever Had”
(HarperCollins).
“The Cardinals have gotten here on the three G’s –– guile, guts
and genius (their manager, Tony LaRussa). They’ve been hot but
that can’t go on forever,” added Achorn, who
correctly picked the Giants to defeat the Rangers in five games
in the 2010 Series.
Achorn does offer the caveat that the Cardinals hold the edge in
managers — LaRussa vs. Ron Washington — which could prove
decisive in very tight games. “Washington has a tendency to
overmanage,” he said.
But overall, Texas looks like a very strong team. His advice to
the Rangers? “Pitch around (Albert) Pujols. He will kill you.”
One intentional walk per game to Prince Albert is not too high
price to pay to spare much worse damage."
