That's according to an article by Multichannel News.
The publication says the new channel will be called Crime & Investigation HD, which will feature programming on crime-based topics.
A&E already has three high-def channels -- A&E HD, The History Channel HD and Biography HD. The new channel launch, the company says, is part of a growing effort to attract the high-def audience.
A&E officials say they will launch a new advertising campaign on May 12 called "Wide Appeal" designed to win new viewers and persuade more TV providers to carry their channels.
"(We want to) "make sure (TV providers) realize how committed we are to HD,” said A&E executive vice president David Zagin. “As we compete with our programming peers, this is a great opportunity to highlight what we have available.”
A&E said it hopes to offer 100 percent 'true HD' on all networks in the near future. Some of the programming on their high-def networks are now not in high-def, but stretched to fill the widescreen.
