Amazon: Samsung Tops HDTV Holiday Sales
The online retailer says high-def DVD players also sold well.

The online retailer yesterday released several statistics for its holiday season, saying it was "the best ever." Amazon reports that its customers ordered more than 5.4 million items from November 15 to December 19.
That comes to 62.5 items per second.
Samsung's top ranking at Amazon reflects its continued strength in the TV category; the company has been the leading seller of all televisions in 2007, according to various research reports. (Amazon did not reveal which TV maker finished second in holiday sales.)
The LCD flat-panel set has also outpaced sales of Plasma and rear projection sets this year.
In other statistics, Amazon says it sold enough high-def DVD players (Blu-ray and HD DVD) to cover seven football fields. The retailer did not specify how many players were sold.
Amazon also revealed that it sold 17 Nintendo Wii video game systems per second when they were in stock.
