Will DIRECTV Carry FXX?
By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (August 20, 2013) - Editor's Note: TV's Answer Man, aka Swanni, takes your questions regarding how to best use the latest products and services in TV technology. If you have a question about TV technology, ask TV's Answer Man by sending an e-mail to swann@tvpredictions.com

Q. Hey, there's all this talk about Fox Sports 1. What about FXX? Will DIRECTV carry that? -- Mickey, Dunkirk, Maryland.

Mickey, Fox Sports 1 received considerable media attention because the new channel promises to be a serious threat to ESPN for the crown as top national sports network. Consequently, both journalists and industry analysts covered the Fox Sports 1 launch with a certain apocalypse flair because it could have an impact on the industry for years.

But FXX, which debuts on September 2, is an interesting channel, too.
One day one, it will lead off with a 34-episode marathon of Parks & Recreation and it will be a showcase for comedy TV shows and movies. (By the way, the channel will replace the Fox Soccer Channel, which is going away.)

So, will DIRECTV carry FXX? The answer to your question is yes -- and it will carry it in high-def on channel 619.

Who else will carry FXX? Well, providers that have signed up so far include: Comcast, Cox, Verizon FiOS, Dish and Time Warner Cable. The channel says it will be in 72 million homes at launch.
