Q. I believe in getting the best in life. And that includes televisions. Could you give me a list of some sets that are awesome regardless of price? Three would be cool. -- Gordon, Alexandria, Virginia.
Gordon, you have a splendid philosophy of life -- and, hey, If I had the cash, I would subscribe to it immediately! But that said, I will give you three TVs priced over $1,500 that I think you will find to your liking.
The three sets are in no particular order, but here's number one:
1. Samsung 65-inch, 240Hz, Ultra-Slim, Smart LED TV
The set is priced today at Amazon at $2,197, which is 41 percent off the suggested list price. That may be enough to order one now, but let me tell you about the TV's features. The Samsung 65-inch set has a 240Hz refresh rate, which is great for reducing motion blur during action movies and sports; built-in Wi-Fi to access your streaming service; and motion control which enables you change channels and control the TVs' setting with hand gestures. Amazon.com's customers have rated the TV 4.3 stars out of a possible five, based on 85 reviews.

This TV is priced today at Amazon at $1,818, compared to the suggested list price of $2,499. The 70-inch monster uses a photo-alignment technology that's crafted to let more light in bright scenes and light out in dark scenes. Plus, the display offers a 4 million to 1 contrast ratio; that's 4 million. In addition, the Sharp TV comes with built-in WiFi and it features a slim design. Amazon.com's customers have rated the set 4.2 stars out of a possible five. CNET rated it as "very good," adding that it "sets the big-screen value bar high."

The Sony TV is priced today at Amazon at $2,149, compared to the suggested list price of $3,199. The set offers 3D capability, built-in WiFi and an edge LED backlight to accommodate a bright picture and thin design. Sony says the set also features MotionFlow XR 240, which it says basically put motion blur on the shelf. For DIRECTV customers who have the Genie Whole-Home HD DVR, the TV also allows you to watch the satcaster's programming without an additional receiver. Amazon.com's customers have rated the set 4.4 stars out of a possible five.
