NFL Sunday Ticket: Will My Team Be Blacked Out If I'm Traveling?
By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (September 22, 2014) - Editor's Note: TV's Answer Man, aka Swanni, takes your questions regarding how to best use the latest products and services in TV technology. If you have a question about TV technology, ask TV's Answer Man by sending an e-mail to swann@tvpredictions.com

Q. I live in Chicago and I have the streaming feature on my NFL Sunday Ticket plan. I am going to be in Indianapolis this Sunday. Will I be able to watch my Bears on my computer or will it be blacked out because I live in Chicago? -- Carl, Chicago.

Carl, as you know, DIRECTV's NFL Sunday Ticket package includes a MAX plan that allows you to watch the games online on computers and mobile devices. The additional cost for the online plan is roughly $90 for the entire season. (You can also subscribe to the streaming plan under special circumstances such as an inability to get a DIRECTV signal at your home.  Contact DIRECTV for more information.)

Normally, you would not be able to stream this Sunday's game between
Green Bay and Chicago because you live in Chicago. However, the blackout rule is based on where your device is, not where you are.

So this Sunday, if you're in Indianapolis, you'll be able to watch the Bears on your computer or mobile device. But guess what? You won't be able to watch the Titans-Colts game because you will be in Indianapolis, the home of the Colts. The local blackout will prevent you from tuning in that contest.

One more note: If a family member or friend back in Chicago plans to use your account to watch any Sunday Ticket game online this Sunday, tell 'em to turn that device off before you begin to watch. You can only watch the online edition of the NFL Sunday Ticket on one computer at a time.
