Q. I watched this week's Dancing With the Stars and what's up with Julianne Hough and Mark Ballas?! Does she hate him? She was awfully mean to him. -- Aida, Las Vegas.
Aida, Julianne Hough, who was a professional dancer on the hit ABC show for eight seasons, returned on Monday as a guest judge and her comments regarding Mark Ballas' dancing left a lot of people buzzing.Join the discussion! Comment below and/or share this story on Twitter!
Ballas is teamed this season with singer Christina Milian and the duo performed an excellent foxtrot on Monday night. But when asked about their performance, Hough sniffed that Milian and Ballas seemed to be "dancing side-by-side rather than together."
US Magazine writes that Hough added: "I really want to see (Milian) shine. I've danced with Mark. You have to stand in front to make sure you're seen."
Hough seemed to be suggesting that Ballas hogs the spotlight when dancing on the show, a sharp rebuke from a former colleague.
Ballas reacted to the comment with a stiff stare, according to US Magazine. But the dancer had plenty to say later.
"The one comment for me that was a little funny is that I make it all about me," he said. "I thought that was a little hypocritical comment."
Ballas didn't explain how it was hypocritical, but it's not hard to speculate that he thinks Hough is the one who hogs the spotlight.
Although some might say Hough was exhibiting professional jealousy, there may have been something else behind her remarks. Julianne recently said she was abused as a teenager when she was in London studying dance.
Oh, who was she staying with in London when she was allegedly abused? Mark Ballas' parents.
Something tells me that we haven't heard the last of this story.
