Apple Eying March 2012 For HDTV Launch?
By Swanni
Washington, D.C. (August 1, 2011)
--
A
Wall Street analyst says Apple will likely launch three
company-branded High-Definition TVs in March 2012.
That's according to various news reports, including
AppleInsider.com.
The analyst, Trip Chowdhry of Global Equities Research, issued a
note to his clients on Sunday that said he expected the Apple
sets to be released in March 2012. He said the sets will likely
come with three different screen sizes and price points.
Rumors have circulated this year that Apple is considering
entering the TV business. The company now makes set-tops and
mobile devices that enable owners to stream content to TVs.
But Chowdhry says Apple HDTV is likely to be similar to the Bose
VideoWave model, a 46-inch LCD HDTV that comes with an
integrated Surround-Sound speaker system.
However, the analyst added that the Apple set will likely be as
third as thick as the VideoWave set, which is six inches deep,
and it will have sixteen built-in speakers.
