Bell TV: 1st In Canada to Offer 100 HD Channels

Washington, D.C. (November 3, 2009) -- Bell TV says it has become the first Canadian TV provider to offer 100 High-Definition channels.

To reach the 100 HD mark, Bell yesterday said it added such channels as AMC HD, Los Angeles' KTLA HD, New York's WPIX HD and Boston's WSBK HD.

"Bell TV offers more High Definition TV channels than anyone else in Canada - more hit shows, more movies, more sports and more family programming in HD than any cable or satellite," said a Bell spokesman. "Reaching 100 HD channels is a significant milestone that both enhances our lead in the industry and supports our strategic imperative to leverage our wireline momentum here at Bell."

Bell, which was founded in 1997 and is formerly known as Bell ExpressVu, now has 1.9 million customers. The company's major competitors in Canada include Rogers Cable and Shaw Communications.
