The 4 Best HDTVs For Watching DVDs
Consumer Reports says four high-def sets offer an "excellent" picture when you're watching a DVD.
By Phillip Swann

Washington, D.C. (February 15, 2007) -- The High-Definition TV picture offers a sparkling clear view of sports, movies and primetime TV shows.

However, many HDTV owners say they most enjoy watching standard DVDs because they have never looked better than on the widescreen set.

In the March issue of Consumer Reports, the magazine's staff
has reviewed 98 different high-def sets and found that 61 deliver a "very good" picture when displaying a standard DVD picture.

But the magazine writes that four high-def sets offer an "excellent" standard DVD picture. They are:

LCD
Samsung 32-inch LN-S3296D ($1,500)

DLP Rear Projection
Toshiba 62-inch 62HM196 ($2,500)
Toshiba 62-inch 62MX196 ($2,900)

LCoS Rear Projection
JVC HD-56FN97 ($2,500)

Consumer Reports said that 30 LCD sets reviewed offer a "very good" standard DVD picture while 20 Plasma sets and 12 rear projection sets did.
