Blockbuster says it has a secret
weapon in the fight against movie downloads.
High-Definition DVDs.
Blockbuster CEO John Antioco tells Reuters that
consumers will opt for high-def discs when they compare
them to the lesser picture quality of movie downloads.
He added that the time involved in downloading a film
will also discourage online rentals.
"We
think packaged media remains king for a long time,"
Antioco told Reuters.
Blockbuster recently began testing rentals of Blu-ray
and HD-DVD discs at approximately 250 stores.
