However, despite the low prices, no retailer has yet to announce that it will sell a Blu-ray player for $49 on Black Friday, as many analysts predicted last month. The low price would likely trigger a huge increase in Blu-ray player sales -- and Blu-ray high-def discs.

Still, Black Friday announcements have yet to be made by such prominent discounters as Costco, Amazon and hhgregg. Additionally, some retailers are known to lower their Black Friday prices again in December as the Christmas holiday gets closer.
