Star Wars On Blu-ray Shatters
Sales Records
By Swanni
Washington, D.C. (September
23,
2011) --
The Blu-ray edition of Star Wars: The Complete Saga has
generated $84 million worldwide since its launch on September
16, writes The Hollywood Reporter.
To no one's surprise, the take makes the nine-disc collection
the highest revenue generating Blu-ray release in the five-year
history of the high-def disc.
However, Star Wars' incredible success might surprise some fans
who called for a boycott of the collection after reports leaked
that George Lucas changed some scenes for the Blu-ray edition.
One tweak: Lucas added a line to Darth Vader's angst-ridden
monologue at the end of Return of the Jedi.
But the lure of getting all six Star Wars features films and
three separate discs of supplemental material appears to have
been too much for most fans to resist.
