The retailer has kicked off the campaign by offering a 'Buy Two, Get One Free' offer, similar to what's now being offered at ecommerce retailer Amazon.com.
While Barnes & Noble has carried standard-def DVDs for years, the addition of Blu-ray could give the high-def disc format a substantial sales boost in the coming months. B&N is the largest specialty book retailer in the United States with approximately 800 stores in the United States.
Circuit City, Best Buy, Blockbuster are other major retailers that are now carrying movies and TV shows in Blu-ray high-def disc.
Barnes and Noble is also carrying Blu-ray (and HD DVD) releases at its web site.
