Twice a year since 1997, Brand Keys releases its 'Brand Loyalty' winners in 55 consumer categories including HDTVs, DVD players, satellite radio services, retail stores, credit card companies and many others.

The winners are chosen based on telephone interviews with men and women between the ages of 18 and 60. Brand Keys says the top brands are best able to engage consumers and create loyal customers, which eventually will lead to greater sales.
"The brand whose drivers come closest to meeting (or even exceeding) those of the category Ideal is always the one whose customers will demonstrate the highest levels of engagement and loyalty over the next 12 to 18 months," Brand Keys says at its web site.
In the LCD HDTV category, Sony finished first while Panasonic was tops in the Plasma category. Among tube HDTVs, Samsung was number one.
Sony also finished first among DVD players; Apple was the top brand loyalty company in the computers category; and ABC finished first among evening news programs.
