This is no surprise to owners of High-Definition TVs. They could see the damage done by the sun to the president's face during the crystal-clear HD broadcast of his 2006 State of the Union speech.
In a HDTV review of the speech, Phillip Swann, president of TVPredictions.com, wrote this on February 1, 2006:
"When seen in high-def, Mr. Bush's face is clearly suffering from moderate to extreme sun damage. His forehead and upper cheeks are littered with liver spots."

Swann added that the ultra-clear high-def picture indicated that Mr. Bush could be risking serious health issues unless he started using sun block.

"Mr. Bush also looks a bit older and more tired in
high-def...you hope that Laura can persuade him to
'lotion up' the next time he heads to the ranch,"
Swann wrote.
Fortunately, the White House announced yesterday
that the two moles were noncancerous. However, the
president's doctors noted that the skin lesions were
consistent with sun damage.
Swann said yesterday that the 2006 HD broadcast of
President Bush's speech was another example of how
high-def viewers can glimpse things before others do
because the picture is so clear.
"The realistic HDTV picture is like seeing these
people in real life," Swann said.
