Poll: Comcast Is 'HD Leader' In
Cable TV
By Swanni
Washington, D.C. (December 8,
2011) -- Several cable TV
operators have been busily adding new HD channels in recent
years, but the readers of TVPredictions.com say one is doing
more for high-def viewers than any other.
In an online poll conducted here Tuesday and Wednesday, 37.3
percent of our readers said Comcast is the HD leader in the
cable TV industry. "Other" finished second with 24.9
percent of the vote while Time Warner Cable was third with 21.9
percent.
Cox Communications was fourth with 7.9 percent of the vote;
Cablevision received six percent of the vote and Charter was
sixth with 1.9 percent.
The cable poll is part of our effort to determine, once and
for all, who is the HD leader in the TV industry, meaning that
it has the best lineup of HD channels and the best HD
picture quality.
First, we matched up the two satellite TV services -- DIRECTV
and Dish Network -- asking you which one is the HD leader in
their category. (DIRECTV won that contest with 58 percent of the
vote.)
And on Wednesday, we began asking you to name the HD
leader between the two telco TV providers -- AT&T and Verizon.
(You can vote on that poll by clicking:
Telco.)
Finally, on Friday, we will take the winners in all three
categories -- satellite, cable and telco -- and ask you to vote on
who is the "HD Leader" in the entire pay TV industry.
By winning in the cable category, Comcast joins DIRECTV in our
final poll.
