Cablevision Adds BBC America HD

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (August 23, 2011) -- Cablevision today announced that it's adding BBC America this week to its High-Definition lineup.

The channel, which is not available in high-def on DIRECTV, will be added to Cablevision's channel 101 by Thursday, August 25, the cable operator said.

BBC America, the U.S. edition of the British channel, features such shows as Doctor Who, Top Gear, The Graham Norton Show and Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, as well as miniseries such as The Hour, Luther, Bedlam, Friday Night Dinner and 24 Hours in the ER.

Sandy Ashendorf, EVP Network Distribution, BBC Worldwide America, said today: “We’re thrilled to expand our existing BBC World News partnership with Cablevision to offer BBC AMERICA in both standard and high definition. Cablevision’s markets are a great fit for BBC AMERICA’s world class programming and we welcome Cablevision’s customers to the channel’s growing distribution.”

Cablevision said it now offers more than 120 high-def channels.
