Logitech Launches $199 Skype HD Camera
By Swanni
Washington, D.C.
(August 6, 2012)
-- Logitech and Skype have teamed to launch the Logitech TV Cam
HD, a 720p High-Definition TV camera with built-in Skype
capability that can operate on any HDTV with HDMI input.
The camera, which retails for $199, is expected to be available
later this month. Logitech.com is now taking
pre-orders
for the device.
Logitech says that with Wi-Fi built-in, the camera will require
no additional software or computer to make phone connections.
The company says the TV Cam will allow you to call anyone using
Skype on any platform, including smartphones, tablets, HDTVs or
computers.
You can also use Skype on the Logitech TV Cam HD to call
landline or mobile numbers using Skype Credit or calling
subscription.
“Because of the size of the
TV screen and the quality of the video, the new Logitech TV Cam
HD with Skype brings a whole new social element to the living
room, helping you feel like your family and friends are right
there with you. It’s a transformative experience,"
says Joerg Tewes, vice president of Logitech's digital home
business group.
