CNN's Headline News Cancels Showbiz Tonight

By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (February 3, 2014) -- CNN's Headline News has cancelled the entertainment news show, Showbiz Tonight, after almost nine years, reports MediaBistro.com.

The site writes that the program's last show will be this Thursday, but Showbiz Tonight host A.J. Hammer will stay with the network as an entertainment reporter.

There was no reason given for the sudden cancellation, but CNN president Jeff Zucker has suggested he plans to make significant changes in Headline News' lineup.

MediaBistro.com writes that Showbiz Tonight staffers are being encouraged to apply for other jobs at the network; the show's entire staff has been laid off.

Showbiz Tonight debuted on February 21, 2005.
