USA Network Cancels Psych

By Allison Moore

Washington, D.C. (February 5, 2014) -- USA Network has cancelled the comedy, Psych, after eight seasons, The Hollywood Reporter writes.

The final episode will air on March 26 at 9 p.m. ET and it will be followed by a one-hour live special revisiting the program's eight years.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that Psych has been a consistent ratings winner for USA Network, but viewership started to decline over the last few seasons. The most recent episode generated just 1.7 million viewers, which was close to a series low.

By contrast, the publication writes that Psych generated roughly four million viewers per episode in its fifth season.

The completion of the eighth season will mean that Psych ran for more than 120 episodes, a true milestone in the basic cable world.
