A&E Cancels Intervention After 13 Seasons

By Allison Moore

Washington, D.C. (May 24, 2013) -- A&E has cancelled the reality series, Intervention, after 13 seasons, the network has announced.

Zap2It.com reports that A&E did not give a reason for the cancellation of the award-winning show that chronicled addictive behavior. The last five episodes of the series will begin airing on June 13.

While the show garnered an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Show, many have said the show needlessly exploits the troubles of people battling addictions. But A&E issued a statement saying it was proud of the show's 13-seasons run.

"We're honored to have been a part of the 243 interventions since its premiere in March of 2005, leading to the 156 individuals that are currently sober to this day," the network said in the release.
