HBO Cancels Eastbound And Down

By Allison Moore

Washington, D.C. (June 7, 2013) -- HBO announced yesterday that it will cancel the comedy, Eastbound And Down, after four seasons.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that the show, which stars Danny McBride as a former baseball pitcher, will conclude after an eight-episode run which begins September 29 at 10 p.m. ET.

The publication adds that HBO was interested in producing a fifth season, but Eastbound and Down's producers wanted to end the series. The show's creative team includes McBride and comedian Will Farrell.

HBO earlier this year also cancelled the Laura Dern comedy, Enlightened.

In other HBO news, the network announced that the fourth season of Boardwalk Empire will debut on September 29 at 9 p.m. ET.

Also, the new Larry David movie, Clear History, will premiere on August 10.
