ABC Cancels Uncle Buck

By Allison Moore

Washington, D.C. (July 11, 2016) --ABC has canceled the rookie midseason comedy, Uncle Buck, after just eight episodes, reports Deadline.com.

The show, which was loosely based on the 1989 movie starring John Candy, featured comedian Mike Epps as a woebegone uncle who learns responsibility when he's forced to care for his brother's children.

Deadline writes that the show earned respectable ratings during its short run, but RottenTomatoes.com notes that it was a critical failure, earning a mere 32 score out of a possible 100 based on 19 reviews.

The season finale, and now series finale, aired on July 5.
