NBC Cancels Fashion Star

By Allison Moore

Washington, D.C. (July 28, 2013) - NBC has cancelled Fashion Star, the reality TV competition series, after two seasons.

The network made the announcement yesterday at the Television Critics Association meeting.

The show, which included Jessica Simpson and Nicole Richie as mentors of fashion designers who wanted to break into the business, averaged just 2.76 million viewers per episode, according to TV Series Finale. The site writes that the last show aired May 10th.

Supermodel Elle MacPherson was the original executive producer of the show, but later left for unspecified reasons.

In other show cancellation news, The Disney Channel has cancelled the teen comedy series, Shake It Up, after two seasons. Deadline.com reports the show will end its run this fall after 78 episodes. The site adds that the show continues to fare well in the ratings, but the Disney Channel often will end a series on a high note.
