The publication writes that the camcorder "shines both in looks and ease of use -- for everyone from the novice to the expert. And the pictures are so clear that even the most mundane scenes suddenly seem interesting."
The Canon HV is priced at $1,100.
With high-def sets now in nearly 25 million U.S. homes, industry analysts have suggested that sales of HD camcorders are likely to soar in the coming months. Along with Canon, Sony, JVC and Sanyo are also selling high-def cameras designed for the home video enthusiast.

Canon's HV10 high-def camcorder.
Business Week says Canon's HV10 can shoot in 1080i HD, includes instant auto focus and image stabilization and can take digital still images. The swivel fold-out LCD screen is 2.7 inches.
The camcorder, which weighs less than a pound, is easy to use and displays "great color" pictures in both high-def and standard definition, the publication writes.
On the negative side, Business Week says that the camera performs poorly in low-light and some panel buttons are too close together.
"On balance, though, the HV10 is a great camera and a worthy competitor to the comparable Sony HD model. At $1,100, it's a very good all-around camcorder for anyone who wants a lightweight, easy-to-use device for catching high-def images," the publication says.
Business Week gives the camera a rating of four of five possible stars.
