That's according to an article in Multichannel News.
The publication reports that Comcast will add A&E HD, Food Network HD, Home & Garden Television HD and National Geographic Channel HD.
The high-def networks have already been added to some Comcast markets across the country. But what's unique here is that Comcast made room for the new networks by eliminating 38 analog channels earlier this year.
The analog reclamation project is one way that the cable TV industry is finding room for new high-def channels to keep pace with satellite providers DIRECTV and EchoStar.
A Comcast spokesman in Chicago told Multichannel News that the four new HDTV networks will fill the space created by the cutting of the analog channels.
“We mentioned that additional HD and on-demand programming were among the benefits that customers could experience as a result of this change," the spokesman said.
Some Comcast subscribers in Chicago have complained about the analog elimination, but Multichannel News reports that the complaints have fallen dramatically in the last month.
