The high-def channel airs classic movies from the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer library.

Washington, D.C. (May 17, 2008) -- Comcast has agreed to carry MGM HD, the high-def channel from the Metro-Goldwyn Mayer studio, the companies announced Friday.

MGM HD, which launched last year, offers high-def, remastered films from the studio's library of more than 4,100 titles. The companies said MGM movies would also be available on Comcast's On Demand menu.

Comcast, however, did not say which local systems would carry MGM HD in their high-def lineups.

"As more people are watching movies in HD, Comcast is a one-stop destination for all of the hits, new and old," Matt Bond, Comcast's executive vice president for content acquisition, said in a statement. "This agreement brings a wealth of quality MGM films to our customers and adds to our growing library of hundreds of HD choices we currently offer."

In addition to movies, MGM HD offers previews of upcoming films and features on movie-related events, such as Red Carpet segments.
