Comcast Adds History Channel, TNT to HD On Demand
The cable operator continues to expand the lineup.
By Phillip Swann

Washington, D.C. (July 3, 2007) -- Comcast has added The History Channel HD to its lineup of HD On Demand programming.

The cable operator now includes four programs from History Channel HD under its "News and Info" section of the HD On Demand menu.

The quartet of items includes three six-minute previews of episodes of Dogfights and a full-length episode of the same program entitled Jet vs. Jet.

Comcast has also added past episodes of Closer from TNT HD, the police drama starring Kyra Sedgwick.

The cable operator has vowed to increase its HD On Demand lineup to 200 hours of programming by year's end. It says it offered 100 hours at the end of 2006.

Comcast and other cable operators are hoping that the expansion of high-def on demand will satisfy HD viewers who might be tempted to switch when DIRECTV adds dozens of HD channels this fall.
