Financial terms of the Cox-TiVo
deal were also not disclosed.
Cox is the second cable TV operator to license TiVo's DVR software. Comcast, the nation's largest cable TV operator, is scheduled to add TiVo later this year.
TiVo, which has less than five million subscribers after nearly nine years in business, has been aggressively seeking licensing deals with both cable and satellite operators.
The DVR company recently won a patent lawsuit against the nation's second largest satcaster EchoStar, although the case is on appeal. Top satcaster DIRECTV, a longtime TiVo marketing partner, has decided to use its own DVR. However, the companies have agreed to continue service to existing DIRECTV-TiVo customers.

Swanni Sez:
The Cox announcement is tremendous news for TiVo and should silence doubters (myself included) who have suggested the company might not survive in the long term.
I have said (repeatedly) for several years that TiVo can't compete unless it partners with cable and satellite operators. Now with Cox and Comcast on board -- and EchoStar as a possible licensee due to the patent case -- TiVo's future looks much brighter.
