The company said the first Blu-ray titles will launch in October. The list includes such classic films as The Third Man, The Last Emperor, The 400 Blows, and The Wages of Fear.
Criterion also said the Blu-ray editions will be priced the same as their standard-def counterparts; most Blu-ray releases are $5-10 more than the standard-def DVD.
"These new editions will feature glorious High-Definition picture and sound, all the supplemental content of the DVD releases, and they will be priced to match our standard-def editions," the company said in a statement.
