Washington, D.C. (September 28, 2008) --
Warner Home Video has confirmed that it will release the blockbuster hit The Dark Knight on Blu-ray and standard-def DVD on December 9.
That's according to an article by Video Business.
The release date has been rumored for weeks, but Video Business reports that Warner has made it official. The Dark Knight, which has generated more than $500 million in domestic box office receipts, is expected to drive both Blu-ray and DVD sales during the holidays.

VB reports that Warner says the Batman film, which stars the late Heath Ledger and Christian Bale, will help increase the studio's fourth quarter disc sales by 30 percent over last year. The studio is also scheduled to release Sex and the City, Get Smart and Journey to the Center of the Earth in the fourth quarter.
The single-disc SD DVD of The Dark Knight will retail for $28.98 while the two-disc edition will be $34.99. The Blu-ray version will cost $35.99.
Video Business writes that the Blu-ray disc will include such features as 'Batman Tech,' Batman Unmasked and some interactive features.
