Blu-ray Players For $39?

Washington, D.C. (January 25, 2011) -- How would you like a Blu-ray player for just $39? Or a 42-inch LCD HDTV for $299?

DealNews.com, a web site that tracks online discounts and coupons, is predicting that those prices will be available this year.

And that's not all. The site says 55-inch HDTVs will be had for as low as $599 while the Amazon Kindle ebook reader will drop to $99.

DealNews.com says the lowest price it found online for a Blu-ray high-def player in 2010 was a Samsung BD-C5500, which was once priced at $50 at HP Home & Office. But it predicts that players will not only drop to $39 in 2011, they will often be added as a free bundle to TVs and other products. (Some TV makers already offer this.)

The web site says it found a Best Buy Insignia brand 42-inch LCD HDTV for $399 in 2010. But it forecasts a $299 model in 2011, adding that it will badly hurt the 32-inch LCD market.

And as for that $599 55-inch HDTV, DealNews.com says:

"55" LCD HDTV prices are now where 46" LCD HDTVs were in 2008. So, for 2011, we're predicting what we saw for 46" in 2009."
