Ergen: We Have a 10-Year Plan For Dish Network

-- While some companies are reluctant to look too far beyond the
next financial quarter, Charlie Ergen says he has a 10-year plan
to transform his Dish Network into a 'one-stop shop' for
Internet, video and voice service at home and via mobile
devices.
That's according to an article by the Associated Press.
Ergen, the founder of Dish Network who now sits as the company's
chairman, told an industry conference on Tuesday that no company
has yet to provide the complete package that consumers are
looking for. He noted that cable operators offer video, voice
and the Net, but arguably fall short on mobile services.
He said his company's goal is to provide everything a consumer
would want in 10 years.
"When we go install video in
your home we can say, 'No matter where you are, you can take
that video with you,'" Ergen told the Milken Institute Global
Conference. said. "You can also get your broadband and make your
voice calls."
He added: "It doesn't have to be that you drop three calls in
New York City and it doesn't have to be that you get your bill
and you don't understand it. We can change that."
In recent months, Dish has acquired and/or developed services to
provide the multiple features that Ergen is referring to. The
company last year purchased Blockbuster Video and it bought two
companies with wireless licenses that could be used for
Broadband.
