Going back to the claim of offering 200 HD channels, Dish is clearly taking aim at DIRECTV which has said it has the 'capacity' to provide 200 HD channels. However, DIRECTV now acknowledges it only offers 130 HD channels and many of those are PPV movie channels.

"While others repeatedly claim
they have the capacity to offer 200 HD channels, only DISH
Network has delivered," said Tom Cullen,
executive vice president of Sales, Marketing and Programming for
DISH Network. "We are pleased to continue to lead the industry
in delivering the best movies and entertainment with channels
such as EPIX HD."

Swanni's Take:
Dish's claim of having 200 HD channels doesn't pass the laugh
test. However, at least the satcaster is adding HD channels,
unlike its rival.
DIRECTV continues to claim that more HD channels are coming, but
refuses to say when. DIRECTV customers deserve better.
