Dish Raising Monthly Prices by $3-5
By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (January 4, 2011) -- Dish Network will raise its monthly programming rates by $3-5 starting in February, the Denver Post reports today.

Quoting Dish Network, the newspaper writes that Dish's America's Top 120 package will increase 12.5 percent, from $40 to $45. The America's Top 200 package will rise nine percent, from $55 to $60.

Dish said that prices on premium programming and equipment will not change. After the February hike, the satcaster also said that it will freeze prices on its core programming packages until January 2013.

The satcaster blamed the February fee increase on the higher programming fees demanded by the networks to carry their channels. DIRECTV last week gave the same reason for increasing their rates by four percent, also starting in February.

"We have but no choice to pass these costs to our customers," said a Dish spokesman.
