DIRECTV Adds Local HD In 2 More Markets

Washington, D.C. (November 19, 2009) -- DIRECTV has just added local High-Definition channels in two more markets, bringing its total to 138.

The new markets are: Sherman, Texas/Ada, Oklahoma and Minot/Bismark/Dickinson, North Dakota.

In Sherman/Ada, the follow stations were added in HD:
KXII/CBS and FOX.

In Minot/Bismark/Dickinson, the following stations were added in HD: KBMY/ABC, KXMB/CBS and KFYR/NBC.

To receive DIRECTVs local HD programming, customers must have an H20 or H21 HD receiver or an HR20 or HR21 DirecTV Plus HD DVR and a Ka/Ku band dish.

DIRECTV says the 138 markets receiving local high-def signals represents 92 percent of U.S. TV households.

In other DIRECTV news, the satcaster yesterday named former Pepsi executive Michael White as its CEO.
