Washington, D.C. (November 20, 2008) -- DIRECTV has added local High-Definition channels in six more markets, bringing its local high-def coverage to a total of 115 markets.
The new markets are: Rockford, Illinois, Des Moines/Ames, Iowa, El Paso, Texas, Fort Wayne, Indiana, La Crosse/Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Peoria/Bloomington, Illinois.
The satcaster says the 115 cities with local high-def coverage represents more than 87 percent of U.S. TV households. DIRECTV adds that it will offer local HD channels in 121 cities by year's end.
If your favorite local station has not been added in one of the new markets, cable and satellite TV providers sometimes can not offer all local channels in their lineups due to compensation disputes with the local stations.
