The satcaster, which plans to add the high-def music network full-time in September, is showing the "sneak peek" on channel 332 and sometimes on channel 95.
DIRECTV is scheduled to add dozens of high-def channels this September after the launch of a new satellite. The expanded lineup is expected to include MHD.
But the satcaster currently does not have the satellite capacity to add a substantial number of channels so it's offering a preview of MHD, and National Geographic HD on a part-time basis on channel 98.
The DIRECTV MHD preview will include the channel's special broadcast of the six-hour Concert for Diana live and in high-def on July 1.
Nelly Furtado will shake it at Wembley.
The concert, which begins at 11 a.m. ET, will also be broadcast in standard definition on VH1 and streamed live at VH1.com.
The event, which will be held at Wembley Stadium, will honor the memory of the late Princess Diana on her birthday.
The list of performers include Elton John, Fergie, Nelly Furtado, P. Diddy, Duran Duran, Kanye West, Rod Stewart, Natasha Bedingfield, Joss Stone and Tom Jones. (Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is scheduled to perform with Jones.)
Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Donny Osmond and Jason Donovan will also perform in a special musical medley which Andrew Lloyd Webber has put together for the concert.
