Washington, D.C. (December 10, 2008) -- DIRECTV has added local PBS HD channels in 10 more markets, bringing its total to 24, the company announced today.
The new markets where local PBS HD stations are now available are: Burlington, Vt.-Plattsburgh, N.Y.; Toledo, Ohio –Youngstown, Ohio; Flint-Saginaw-Bay City, Mich.; Indianapolis, Ind.; Knoxville, Tenn.; San Diego, Calif.; San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, Calif.; Springfield-Holyoke, Mass.; and Tampa-St. Petersburg, Fla.
DIRECTV says PBS HD channels will be added to more markets this year and in 2009.
The local PBS HD launch follows the recent approval of an agreement announced earlier this year by DIRECTV and the Association of Public Television Stations. Under the agreement, DIRECTV says it will offer high-def programming from local PBS stations in markets where it now provides local HD channels.
