DIRECTV to Offer Free Preview Of 9 HD Channels

-- Perhaps smarting from
subscriber demands for more HD channels, DIRECTV tomorrow will
begin a one-week free preview of its 'HD Extra Pack.'
The programming package, which normally costs $4.99 a month,
includes nine channels: Hallmark Movie Channel HD; HDNet Movies;
MGM Movies; Sony Movie Channel HD; Crime & Investigation HD;
Universal HD; Palladia HD; Smithsonian HD; and Shorts HD
The free preview will go from tomorrow, May 2, to May 9.
The nine channels in the package can not be ordered without the
Extra Pack plan. At DIRECTV's web site, the satcaster is also
offering a free 3-month trial of the Extra Pack. However, you
might want to contact DIRECTV's customer service to determine if
you are eligible.
DIRECTV, which once was considered the industry's HD leader, has
added relatively few HD channels over the last two years,
prompting complaints on Internet message boards and other
forums.
