DIRECTV: HDTV Boosts Revenue, Subs
The satcaster releases its fourth quarter results.

The satcaster expanded its high-def lineup from nine to roughly 90 channels in the fourth quarter.
DIRECTV said it has been successful in persuading many non-HD customers to upgrade to high-def packages.
Consequently, the average monthly sub revenue jumped 8.3 percent to $87.40.
The company said the new HD channels also enabled it to reduce its monthly churn rate to the lowest in eight years. The monthly churn rate is now 1.42 percent, compared to 1.57 a years ago.
DIRECTV said it added 474,000 net subscribers in the fourth quarter and now has 16.8 million subscribers.
