DIRECTV Negotiating For Mad Men In HD?
TVPredictions.com

Washington, D.C. (July 27, 2010) -- Well, DIRECTV viewers, there may be a sliver of hope today that the satcaster will eventually add AMC HD -- and Mad Men -- to its high-def lineup.

Leading up to Sunday's fourth season debut of Mad Men on AMC, DIRECTV's Twitter page was hit with a
blitz of complaints from people upset that the satcaster has not added AMC HD. (DIRECTV does carry the standard-definition edition of the channel.)

"Are there any plans to add AMC in HD? Was ready to watch the Season premiere of Mad Men and found it only in stand def :-(" read one typical tweet, complaining about the absence of AMC HD in DIRECTV's lineup.

Finally, yesterday, the morning after Mad Men's fourth season premiere, DIRECTV's
official Twitter page issued this statement:

"We continue to have discussions with Rainbow Media, the owner of AMC, about adding the HD version but a date has not been set."

Until that statement, DIRECTV's Twitter team simply responded to AMC HD complaints with a vague comment saying there was no launch date for the channel. However, DIRECTV is now saying that "discussions with Rainbow Media" are ongoing.

Okay, it may be just a sliver of hope, but a sliver is better than nothing.

Meanwhile, over at Dish Network's Twitter page, the satcaster has yet to address concerns that it does not carry AMC HD.
